Efficiency Maine Funding Opportunity Notice

Efficiency Maine is seeking applications for high-performance heat pump projects for small municipalities in Maine. Eligible projects can use this opportunity to save money and energy. An eligible heat pump retrofit project includes only the high-performance heat pump measures (HSPF of 12.5+.) The installed heat pump must be used as the primary heating and cooling systems for the space or building zone for which the heat pump is serving. Buildings that heat with natural gas are not eligible. All projects must be completed by an Efficiency Maine Qualified Partner, like Royal River Heat Pumps. For more information visit Efficiency Maine’s website or talk to your Royal River Heat Pumps Designer.

Heat Pump Incentives for Businesses

It’s time to replace the old air conditioning system. Efficiency Maine offers incentives to businesses to add high performance heat pumps for cooling and heating from $500 per single zone to $1,250 for multi zones with 4+ indoor units.

If you are a “Small General Service” (SGS) or “Small Service” (SS) electric customer you may be eligible for $1,600 per single zone system with an HSPF of at least 12.5. (Maximum 3 systems for a total of $4,800.)

Governor Mills Announces New Heat Pump Rebates for Maine

Janet Mills has announced an initiative to install 100,000 heat pumps in Maine homes and businesses by 2025 to create jobs, reduce fossil fuel consumption and save people money on their heating bills. Maine is doubling rebates on single zone wall units with an HSPF of over 12.5 for homes that do not have natural gas.

This initiative is not funded by tax-payer money. “These new rebates will help make high-performance heat pumps more attainable for more Maine people, and the effects of this initiative will ripple across Maine’s economy,” said Governor Mills. “Not only will it help create good-paying jobs, boost small businesses, and promote workforce training at our community colleges, but it will also help Maine people save money on their heating bills and reduce our reliance on fossil fuels, helping us protect our environment and fight climate change. I encourage Maine people to see what they are eligible for.”
